About Me
My name is Cathal Sweeney. I'm a 16-year-old hurler and entrepreneur from Limerick, and I'm the creator of the GLO ball.
The idea came from a problem I ran into myself. It was a dark winter evening after school, and all I wanted to do was get out and puck around for a bit. So I headed out to my garden with my hurl and a sliotar. The only light I had was a small patio light — not nearly enough to actually see what I was doing. I kept missing the ball, and worse, kept losing it over the wall into my neighbour's garden.
I got frustrated fumbling around in the dark trying to find lost balls instead of actually training. But instead of just giving up on evening practice for the winter, I started thinking about how to fix it. That's where the idea for the GLO ball was born — a ball you can actually see and train with, no matter how dark it gets.
Being 16 hasn't stopped me from turning that idea into a real product. I designed it, built the business around it, and I'm now bringing the GLO ball to hurlers everywhere who've had the same problem I did — losing light, losing balls, and losing training time{ I always face skepticism from people asking if I actually do everything myself, I manage everything from packaging each and every order to making the videos and answering emails !
If you've ever stood in your garden at 6pm , hurl in hand, unable to see the ball in front of you, the GLO ball was made for you.
